Shopify analytics: sales, order value and forecast
See how sales move week to week, what a typical order is worth, which products sell together, and what the next months may look like.
The question
“How are my sales trending, and which products go together?”
Ask it in your own words. You get the answer, with the steps that made it.
What in your data answers it
These are the fields the connector reads.
| Stream | Field | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| orders | created_at and total_price | Day and size of each order. Gives sales over time and order value. |
| orders | line_item_count | How many items were in the order. |
| order_items | title, sku, quantity, price | Each product on each order. Shows what sells and what sells together. |
| products | product_type, vendor, min_price, max_price | The catalog, for grouping and price ranges. |
Shopify pulls the last 60 days by default. A forecast needs more history, so ask for a longer window.
A real sample report
This sample report runs a forecast on a public monthly series (airline passengers). It is not Shopify data. Your daily or weekly sales total has the same shape: a count over time.
Other questions to ask
- “What will sales look like over the next three months?”
- “Which products are bought together most often?”

Questions
How much history does a forecast need?
More is better. Two full seasons is a good start. Ask for a longer window than the default 60 days.
Can it find products bought together?
Yes. The order items give a basket for every order. The market basket tool finds the pairs.
Does it change my store?
No. We only read.
