Google Analytics 4 analysis beyond the GA4 reports
The GA4 screens show you the numbers. Ask harder questions of the same data: which days look odd, what repeats each week, and what comes next.
The question
“Which days were unusual, what pattern repeats, and where is traffic headed?”
Ask it in your own words. You get the answer, with the steps that made it.
What in your data answers it
These are the fields the connector reads.
| Stream | Field | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| report | date | The day. Gives you a time series to look for patterns in. |
| report | sessionSource | Where visits came from, such as search, email or a link. |
| report | pagePath | Which page was seen. |
| report | totalUsers, sessions, bounceRate | The counts you pick when you ask. You choose the dimensions and metrics. |
You choose the date range, the dimensions and the metrics. The connection only reads.
A real sample report
This sample report runs the same method on a public daily series (bike sharing, one row per day). It is not GA4 data. A GA4 report with the date dimension is the same shape: one row per day with a count.
Other questions to ask
- “Which days had traffic that looks out of the ordinary?”
- “What repeats each week in my sessions?”

Questions
Is this a replacement for the GA4 screens?
No. It reads the same data and answers questions the screens do not, such as which days were unusual.
Which numbers can I ask about?
The ones GA4 reports: users, sessions, bounce rate, events and conversions, cut by day, page or source.
Does it change my GA4 property?
No. We only read.
