Where do people drop out of your flow?
Funnel analysis from an event log

Export an event log of your signup, checkout or onboarding flow. See how many people reach each step, which step loses the most, and how segments compare.

Three questions this answers

  1. How many people reach each step of the flow?
  2. Which step loses the most people?
  3. Do some groups drop out at a different step than others?

What your file needs

  • One row per event.
  • A user ID.
  • The step or event name.
  • When the event happened.
  • Optional: a segment column, such as device or channel.
  • The free tool analyzes up to 10,000 rows; a larger file is randomly sampled to that size.

What you get back

  • The funnel shape, with users remaining at each step.
  • Conversion from each step to the next, and from the first step.
  • Users lost at each step, and the biggest leak.
  • A comparison across segments.
  • The method named and the R code.

A limit worth stating

A funnel shows where people drop out, not why. The report counts a user who reached a later step as having reached the earlier ones, so a log with missing events still reads sensibly.
